NIHL…..stuff happened…..we think…..

So from what we could find, it seems that three out of the four NIHL conference (?) titles were decided over the weekend past, with Basingstoke Bison, Sutton Sting and Sheffield Steeldogs picking up top spots in their respective competitions. If anyone knows what’s going on in the fourth can you let us know, please?!

Seattle – sealed deal

With a stellar Season Ticket pre-sales, it’s pretty much a done deal – so who’s a Seattle fan already?!

Read about their season ticket sale here.

Interfering with the rough rule book…

Goaltending interference has been a hot topic recently and with a questionable decision in Toronto, it’s become one that the NHL has committed to reviewing in the off-season.

Take a look at the goal that led to this, and Mike Babcock having a giggle at the ridiculousness of it all!

Korrupt Hockey League?

The KHL is being used as a political tool by Vladamir Putin? Surely not! Well, actually…maybe it is…have a read of this and see what you think yourself.

Who skates on a rink and is gaudy as hell?

Check out these beauts of jerseys worn by the Indy Fuel and Cincinnati Cyclones (home of former EIHL coach Marc Leflevbre!

Throw down…the lino?

Not something we see everyday, but players getting (mildly) physical with the stripeys is always a little funny (right?), especially when they make it look this easy!

Possible Three-Way….

A three way ‘table-top’ hockey VR game from Sony….yeah, glad it’s still in development!

Ice for 251 hours at -30 degrees….until done…(in Oilerville? come on John!)

Some awesome human beings doing some epic hockey charity work! 251 hours of hockey in sub-freezing temperatures? it’s nothing to these guys as they raise money (and lots of it) for great causes!

Read about it here.

There can only be one! It’s THAT Challenge Cup win for the Belfast Giants!

Dave – Star Goal

The Checkers’ netminder gets his second goal in two seasons in the AHL, and doesn’t miss his chance to celebrate this time!

Marty – Star Goal

NCAA side St. Cloud State’s Ryan Poehling goes between the legs for a stunning goal v North Dakota (skip to 1:12 to see it).

NIHL pass out more big bans for big (dirty) hits

Another NIHL player sees big digits in the suspension numbers following a hit to the head.

The guys also discuss the language used in the NIHL’s press releases, and wonder how the EIHL has measured up with them this season on discipline…

EIHL gives out just a few bans this time around

Listener Questions!

Matthew and Jonathan both asked us what we thought of the recent level of officiating in the EIHL, and specifically since the introduction of the 4-man system.

[SPOILER ALERT] we think it needs work!

Jo asked us whether its too early to be talking about a conference title after the Challenge Cup win for the Giants.

That pretty much sums up our answer Jo!
