This week Marty, Dave, and John return to chat all things hockey. This week the lad’s chat roster changes, foots ball, ref abuse, splashville, charity/good deeds all topped off with a special bedtime story. Plus all the news bits and features you have come to expect from the Door 14 hockey Podcast.
League Tables
Period One
Bobcats Take Belpot
The 2022 Friendship Four is in the books and at second time of asking, the Quinnipiac Bobcats have lifted and rung the Belpot in The SSE Arena.
One In One Out in Belfast
After a shocking weekend against Manchester, Coach Adam Keefe has rung in the changes, with Chad Butcher having departed the squad and Belfast prior to the weekend’s losses to the Storm. Stepping back into teal however is Josh Roach, utility Forward and Defenceman who knows previous success in a Giants jersey.
Flyers Add Offence
Fife have also moved to bring in back-up into their lineup as Canadian forward Liam Blackburn moves to the Kirkcaldy franchise.
The King Departs Glasgow
EIHL stalwart Mathieu Roy has taken an opportunity in hockey away from the ice in North America and departs the Clan and leaves a big hole for a team already having shed players this season.
22 Men + 3 Lions + 1 Bag of Wind = Changed Faceoffs?
Unless you live under a rock, there’s a football World Cup on. A small country somewhere south-east of Belfast have made it to a quarter final, and apparently that means hockey games get rescheduled…at least they do in places like Manchester and Basingstoke…less so if you’re in Scotland or Wales!
Penalty Box
Period Two
Binnington and Blues Haven Themselves A Night…
Imagine as a net minder you let in 3 goals…then you take a swing at a guy…

THEN you get pulled and lose it a bit AND THEN your replacement falls over into the net…

Coyotes One Step Closer to New Tempe Arena
This last week the Arizona Coyotes saw their new arena in Tempe take a big step forward as the city unanimously approved the plans and moved it forward to community referendum whilst the biggest complainant of the development took a full 180 and threw their support behind the project.
Letting Suffers Second Career Stroke
Kris Letting is out indefinitely after suffering a second minor stroke as a result of an underlying cardiac condition, although it is thought not to be career ending, he will take time to recoup and recover.
CHL – Changes Are Coming, EIHL Out?
The Champions Hockey League have approved changes to the structure of the competition which will impact the teams that will qualify, and may lead to the EIHL Champions no longer automatically taking part. The lads discuss the positives and negatives of the changes and answer Mark’s queries.
Period Three - (Nockey News)
Smashville or Splashville?!
Last week, a broken water main at Bridgestone Arena forced two game postponements for the Nashville Predators. John Cried.
Teddies, Or Togs?
This last weekend saw various teams across the EIHL and elsewhere collect toys and teddy bears to hand out to sick and needy children for Christmas – but two teams in BC, Canada took a different approach and asked fans to chuck a warm piece of clothing instead.
We love this and we’d love to see this emulated in the UK as the cold starts to hit and vulnerable people find themselves in fuel poverty. If anyone out there has influence, can we get this going here in the UK before Christmas?
Clan Help Ukrainian Kids Skate Again
This last week, the Glasgow Clan made a fantastic gesture by bringing two young lads from Ukraine who are living on a ship docked in Glasgow as a result of the war in their country and let them play the game they love again.
Overtime
We want to take this opportunity to highlight some awesome work from AVFTB and Davy in raising money for the Ulster Hospital NICU where Mark Garside’s latest little bundle had to spend some time receiving specialist care.
We understand the importance of family here at D14 and want to give props for such an incredible cause.
If you can give, please do.
Last few hours of the fundraiser for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Ulster to support Gary and family.
We will shut this down at the end of tonight’s podcast so get your ticket for a game worn jersey and meet and greet. NOW! 🤣

ABC's Of Hockey
No ABC’s because no Aaron – but he made sure we had content and instead highlighted some fantastic work from Thomas McDaid on the Giants Facebook Forum. What a story. It had us hooked! Make sure to listen to the podcast to hear John’s rendition!
We’re thrilled to be back for yet another season of hockey and The Door 14 Hockey Podcast, but just because we’ve been doing it for a while now doesn’t mean we’re faultless!
Is there something we screwed up?
Did we miss something?
