The Toronto Maple Leafs are embroiled in some less than savoury allegations following Leafs vs Lightning game where a very audible homophobic slur found its way across the on-ice microphones seemingly from Morgan Rielly .
Since however, the NHL has ruled that, Rielly is not guilty – but has this opened the discussion to vile undercurrents still within hockey and professional sport?
FHL sees Game Abandoned; Fines Issued and Officiating Chief Resign!
A Federal Hockey League game between Elmira Enforcers and the Carolina Thunderbirds was abandoned after officials left the game (and the arena) following a physical confrontation with Elmira’s owner in the first period. Later – the team were handed a hefty $25,000 fine, but this wasn’t enough to keep Officiating Chief Eugene Binda in post, as he finally reached his limit after this most recent flagrant disregard for the safety of his officials and quit his post!
