The lads return for another episode and this time talk middle tier hockey, playoffs, officials, a killer Zamboni, MMA takedowns, water bottle mishaps and a championship winning game. Plus all the usual features you have come to expect from the Door 14 Hockey Podcast.
Belfast Giants are the 2019 Challenge Cup CHAMPIONS!
We’ll let the highlights from IceTime TV tell the tale….
NIHL goes to the Wire
Back in the UK, the NIHL Division 1 championships are going all the way to the final weekend, with two and three teams respectively still in the hunt for regular season glory!
Meanwhile, the NIHL also announced via the EIHA that a return to a two tier system will return. We have thoughts!
On This Day…
We’ve found Dave’s secret source of knowledge, and pulled out a cracker. On the 12th of March 1974, The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Islanders in Long Island for their 200th all-time NHL victory!
Toronto investigates homophobic slur…
The Toronto Maple Leafs are embroiled in some less than savoury allegations following Leafs vs Lightning game where a very audible homophobic slur found its way across the on-ice microphones seemingly from Morgan Rielly .
Since however, the NHL has ruled that, Rielly is not guilty – but has this opened the discussion to vile undercurrents still within hockey and professional sport?
FHL sees Game Abandoned; Fines Issued and Officiating Chief Resign!
A Federal Hockey League game between Elmira Enforcers and the Carolina Thunderbirds was abandoned after officials left the game (and the arena) following a physical confrontation with Elmira’s owner in the first period. Later – the team were handed a hefty $25,000 fine, but this wasn’t enough to keep Officiating Chief Eugene Binda in post, as he finally reached his limit after this most recent flagrant disregard for the safety of his officials and quit his post!
Zambonis – slow, essential and Deadly?!
A tournament in Canada had to be suspended when the arena zamboni tried to kill everyone with carbon monoxide!
Brought back memories of the ‘yellow destroyer’ and the smell that used to follow it around the Odyssey Arena!
Douchebag suspended by own team for MMA throw on opponent…
Yeah, we’ll let this video speak for itself. No place for this in hockey at all. Douchebag. Oh, and suspended by his own team too, and rightly so.
This player has been suspended by his own team for this garbage.

But this time, John found this GOLD from New JerseyDevil’s netminder Mackenzie Blackwood, who has forged a legend for himself as the newest ‘dumb hockey moment’ meme with this “Squeeze too hard and it’ll go off in your face” moment from this past weekend….
